HIGH SPEED INTERNET FOR RURAL COMMUNITIES
Having problems
with your existing internet service?
Tired of waiting
for web pages to load or video buffering?
Can’t get internet
service where you live?
Trying to decide
whether to invest in Starlink or other services?
Then call the
Wireless Wiz and find out if I can help.
I’m a rural
resident who has faced similar challenges.
And I have found
some clever solutions to these painful problems.
The story of the
Wireless Wiz
I had survived
with dial-up for seven years but it became very painful.
I tried satellite
for six months but it was only marginally better.
Then one evening I
glanced to the left in my driveway and saw the lights on a TV tower 8 miles
away.
I knew that there
was an internet provider on the tower, but I did not realize I could see the
tower until then.
In speaking with
neighbors I realized that they experienced similar challenges and frustration.
So I started helping
them find better
internet services. The solutions evolved as LTE and other services became
available.
But challenges
remain, including coverage, service selection, antennas, cellular modems, Wi-Fi
etc.
In 2021 Starlink
started deploying internet services to people in rural areas. Starlink provides
more bandwidth
and the ability to
use the internet more effectively, but challenges continue. Finding a good
location for the dishy
that provides
unobstructed service can be difficult and may require poles, trimming trees and
other measures.
Unlike other
services, Starlink requires broad visibility across the sky, which is not
readily available in many rural areas.
Higher bandwidth
is great, but it is often difficult to get that bandwidth to the places that
need it.
Distributing Wi-Fi
signals can be challenging, particularly across separated living areas, thick
walls, etc.
Zoom and other
video conferencing applications are very sensitive to weak signals and service
interruption.
Over the years I
have assisted many rural residents acquire and manage a wide variety of
internet services.
I'd love to talk with
you about your experiences with the internet. I
learn something new every day!
